Big Ben Takes Shot at Making Mark in Detroit’s Cannabis Market

Our beloved Pistons legend Ben “Big Ben” Wallace is back to make his mark in Detroit in a new way. He has signed an exclusive cannabis licensing agreement with the Michigan-based dispensary Rair. Wallace has spent time developing his own strain of flower along with pre-rolls, vape cartridges and more.

Wallace’s first experience with cannabis was during his retirement. He says former athletes deal with a lot of aches and pains from their careers.

“I was able to stop the pharmaceutical drugs and it relieved me from my pain,” he says.

Wallace is dedicated to leading the charge for young Black men being on the business side of the cannabis world.

“Back then, we didn’t know the medical benefits of cannabis. Let’s take this thing that was once sending our Black men to jail, and let the cannabis business correct some of their wrongs,” he says.

The basketball hall-of-fame player chose to begin his cannabis career with Rair because of their unique growing technique. Rair does not use soil to grow their flowers, they instead use water which they can reuse for more than one batch of plants.

Wallace has plans to stay in Detroit and venture into other avenues.

“The city is being restored,” he declares.
