Once upon a time, Eric Martin & Kent Johnson felt that the travel industry did not accurately represent their culture and experiences. They longed for a company that understood their perspective and celebrated their heritage. So, they decided to create their own travel company, Black & Abroad®, an online community of travelers visiting over 100 countries and expanding awareness of Black travel on all 7 continents.
The founders of Black & Abroad® wanted to create a cultural collective that would empower Black travelers to explore the world and embrace their unique experiences. They believed that travel could be a transformative experience that could break down barriers and foster understanding between cultures.
The company’s motto, Explore • Embrace • Empower, became the guiding principle for everything they did. They wanted to encourage Black travelers to explore new places, embrace different cultures, and empower themselves through their experiences.
Black & Abroad® has quickly became a popular travel company, offering unique and authentic travel experiences that celebrated Black culture. From African safaris to Caribbean cruises, they curate trips that highlight the diversity and beauty of the black experience.
As the company grows, so does its impact. Black & Abroad® is a leader in the travel industry, advocating for more representation and inclusion of Black travelers. They worked with travel suppliers to ensure that their trips were accessible and welcoming to everyone, regardless of race or ethnicity.
Through their efforts, Black & Abroad® has become more than just a travel company. They are a movement, inspiring Black travelers everywhere to explore the world and embrace their heritage. They proved that travel could be a powerful tool for empowerment and change.
